WELCOME

A new website for our pastoral area was set up in 2022 and all official parish business is now conducted there (see link on above menu bar). As for the site here, the administrator donalpmcmahon @gmail.com is happy to continue to look after it under the title of PARISH BLOG, focusing on general topics such as parish history, discussion of the faith etc.

  • About Me

Parishes of Saggart, Rathcoole, Brittas and Newcastle Lyons

"In Louisville, at the corner of Fourth and Walnut, in the centre of the shopping district, I was suddenly overwhelmed with the realisation that I loved all these people, that they were mine and I theirs ... There is no way of telling people that they are all walking around shining like the sun". Thomas Merton, Conjectures of a Guilty Bystander.
(Text chosen by Fr Michael Shortall in 2010)
"Then the Christian ABOVE is incorporated in the human AHEAD ‒ 'supernaturalising' it, not immersed in it. And at the same time, FAITH in GOD, inasmuch as it assimilates and sublimates into its own sap the sap of FAITH in the WORLD, regains all its power to attract and convert!" Teilhard de Chardin, "The Heart of the Problem", 1949
(Text chosen by Donal McMahon in 2024)
